What a world my parents gave me

My mom found one of my old mix cds lying around her house and decided to listen to it in her car.  She was not amused by Mos Def's Ghetto rock, Dave Grohl's acoustic version of "Everlong," or Audio Two's "Top Billin." She became obsessed with "Oh What a World" by Rufus Wainwright.

This shocked me.  It's a slow song with lots of violins and an excerpt from an opera.  My mom usually likes fast, catchy songs like "Great Balls of Fire" and "Mambo Number Five."

She asked me to copy one of Rufus's cds for her.  I told her that she would hate it, but she insisted.  So I copied "Poses" for her, which is super orchestral and gay (and of course, I love it).

Yesterday I asked her how she liked it.  She said, "I don't like it, it's so slow and boring.  Can we tape over it?  I feel bad that I wasted one of your cds."
