Make a nigga wanna grab that, autograph that


I've been craving beignets lately so I decided to throw together a batch for breakfast today. I was surprised to find a recipe in the Joy of Cooking.

After one bite, I knew that these were not beignets. They tasted like thick funnel cakes or fried choux paste.

My wife likes to make fun of me for writing notes in my cookbooks. Every time I make a recipe, I write the date in my cookbook and sometimes I add comments like "needs more salt" or "buy two bags of carrots."

Next to the beignet recipe, I wrote "2-23-08: THESE ARE NOT BEIGNETS."
