Nothin' but a good time

I have been renting a lot of movies lately since I sit and home and weep during the day while everyone I know is at work.  Last week, the wife added a few movies to our Netflix queue.

We watched her first selection over the weekend.  It was entitled, "They Shoot Horses, Don't They?"  The opening scene is a little boy running through some fields with his beloved horse.  The horse trips and is injured.  The little boy then watches as someone shoots the horse.

The movie takes place during the great depression.  The main characters cannot find jobs so they decide to participate in a dance marathon for the prize money and also because the dancers are fed during the marathon.  During the marathon -- spoiler alert! -- some contestants die while most just appear to be in constant pain.  At the end of the movie, the protagonist decides that life is a futile struggle to get ahead and she doesn't want to live anymore.

I think the wife is just trying to give me a little push.
