Yesterday in cooking school was egg day. We poached eggs, fried eggs, and made souffles. Since we had made chocolate mousse the day before, I felt like I was trapped in a big eighties steakhouse dessert world.
"I know this is primarily a cooking class," I said to the chef, "but are we going to make any good desserts this week -- maybe things that aren't on the menu at the Cheesecake Factory?"
He cocked his head slightly, furrowed his brow, and looked at me quizzically. He said, "I know you're wearing a ring but I never asked if you were married to a woman or a man. Should we discuss this?"
