The funniest thing I heard in Arizona was from the teenage clerk in Walgreens.
He said, "Where are you from?"
I was buying sunblock so I was perplexed by the question. What tipped him off that I was from out of town?
I said, "New York" and wondered what he would say next.
"Oh," he said. "Sorry about that. A lot of people around here wear Yankees hats even if they're not from New York."
