Believing is hard, believing is art

Over the weekend I went to a dinner that featured a woman who'd just returned from Thailand.

"The craziest thing is all the transsexuals, all around," she said, "They call them lady-boys."

As I drank and thought of the possibilities, I giggled and missed the segue from lady-boys to deep-fried crickets.

"They're not that bad. You should try them one time," was the first thing I heard.

"You tried a lady-boy?" I gasped, horrified at the 60-year old woman.

The conversation stopped. It was bad, but the worst part was my moral posturing: You did that?! Like I'm one to judge.
