One of the things I loved about visiting France was watching French television. Woody Woodpecker, the Simpsons, and Spinal Tap were all twice as funny dubbed over in French.
But the best thing I saw on television was La Roue De La Fortune, the French Wheel of Fortune.
The host is a loud, charismatic man who comes enters the stage with his dog, a Jack Russell Terrier, that sits on a chair next to him during the show. Sometimes the dog wanders off. The lady responsible for touching the letters on the puzzle is none other than Victoria Silvstedt, a Swedish supermodel who appeared in Playboy while I was still in my teens (and thus, still interested in Playboy). She dances a lot and flirts with the contestants enough that everyone gets a good look at her cleavage. The players routinely guess answers to the puzzles that couldn't possibly fit, just for comedic effect. The host yells at, dances with, and sometimes chokes the contestants. There is a lot of yelling, which is usually when the dog runs off.
Now may hatred of Pat Sajak and Vanna White is deeper than ever.
