My mother has to have knee surgery this week so I asked her what dessert I can make her to ease the pain. She requested pecan pralines.
"They're easy, right?"
The recipe for pecan pralines requires you to put sugar, brown sugar, cream, and pecans in a pot and heat it to the temperature of molten lava while stirring constantly -- which feels like you're performing densitry on a fire-breathing dragon -- and then quickly pour the molten liquid into globs before it gets cold and starts to set up, keeping in mind that the mixture will stick to and burn any surface. Then, tend to your burns before cleaning your utensils, which will require you to boil some water just to get the now-solid candy off of them.
"Yeah mom, they're super easy."
