If I had to tell you, I would have to say

Last night I had a long phone conversation with Boyfriend. He was very verbal during the beginning, but when I really started launching into the tirade he became quiet and comforting. Best of all, he didn't offer any advice!!

At the end of my rant, I asked him a question which prompted me to realize that we had been disconnected for an unknown period of time.

I called back and asked him where we had left off. "Um, I was able to get the entire spiel and didn't miss a thing. We don't have to revisit any of that old stuff that you were saying," he replied. Then chuckled.

Somehow, I think he may be lying.
