I spent my last dime to refill my fat belly

The wife has been feeling pretty down lately -- perhaps it has finally sunk in that she's married to me -- so I took off yesterday to bring her out of her funk.  We went to Momofuku for lunch (I highly recommend the sweetbreads), Bouley bakery for coffee and pastries, and Babbo for dinner.

One of the pasta dishes on the Babbo menu was entitled "Homemade Orecchiette."  This led the wife to assert that the rest of the pasta dishes were probably not homemade.  When her bavette came, she asked me to taste it and tell her if I thought it was homemade.  I made a note to stop bringing her to expensive restaurants.
