It starts in my soul and I lose all control

Last night the wife took me to the Taste of New York. It's a charity event where a bunch of fancy restaurants set up tables and give out small samples of their cooking.

The best dish was a tie between Jean Georges's goat cheese royale with pistachios and Gordon Ramsay's butternut squash veloute with scallops. Wylie's popcorn soup with pear and Waldy Malouf's lamb chops with black olive and lemon were close seconds.

The biggest surprise was the Graffiti Food & Wine bar which had a fantastic pork bun with apricot chutney. I discussed the dish with the chef and was extremely impressed.

The event was scheduled to last from 7 pm to 9 pm and Morimoto ran out of food at 7:30. He was the only one to run out of food. Then he personally left his table so he wouldn't have to explain why he -- probably the richest and most famous chef there -- ran out of food. I am no longer speaking with him.

The highlight of the night came when I spotted Marco Canora, the chef at Hearth and Insieme, walking around and I asked him to take a picture with the wife and I. He was totally shocked. The wife told him that Hearth is one of our favorite restaurants and I told him he needs to open more restaurants. We gushed about how much we love him. Right after the picture, he ran away from us like we were stalkers.
