But calling her a crab is just a figure of speech

Yesterday my boss at the cafe asked me if I have ever made "palm ears."  I had no idea what she was talking about and said I didn't know what they were.  She was shocked and said that I obviously had very poor training.
 
Ten minutes later while going over the conversation in my head, I realized she was talking about palmiers, a French pastry pronounced "palm-yay."  I had, indeed, made them in cooking school.  And I wanted to run screaming from the building.
