I made a peach galette to bring to my grandmother's house on Sunday. To make a galette, you roll out a pie crust, pile a bunch of fresh fruit on it, and fold it up. It's a great summer dessert when the fruit is all in season and you can't decide what to do with it.
As soon as my cousin saw it, he said, "Oh, a peach calzone."
I said, "No, it's a galette."
As I plated slices with almond ice cream, I could hear him giving it out to everyone in the next room by saying, "He made a peach calzone." As I left, every one of my relatives said, "Hey, that was a great calzone." Sometimes having an Italian family is not that great.
