You're so cute when you slur your speech

I started a new internship last week, in the apparel industry. The company is vertically integrated, and I work in one of its retail arms. The funny thing is, it's a kid's boutique.

On the first day, my manager put me on the floor, where I learned something about myself: I can dress like cheerful people. I can do my hair like cheerful people. But I cannot be cheerful people. I don't understand how they operate. They all sound the same to me, so when I try to be work appropriate, it doesn't work. Here is a sample:

"Just look at these new prints! Aren't they just fabby?!"
"RIGHT!! TOTALLY!"

"Well, you just moved that caftan on me again! Come on, I'm trying to buy from you here!"
"I KNOW! ISN'T IT FUNNY?"

In the second week, I have been moved upstairs, where nobody can see me. I do "data analysis" and come up with "big ideas" for the Boss.

It's much more comfortable here.
