Sparring competition that's my hobby and job

I fried up a batch of mini jelly doughnuts yesterday to bring my grandmother. We discussed my hatred of working in a law firm and how my days there may be numbered.

My grandmother grew up on the Lower East Side of New York City. After two years, her parents made her drop out of high school and take a job to help out the family.

She said to me, "You need to get a job that you love. My first job was sticking bristles into paintbrushes. Then for a while I was counting leather straps in a luggage factory. Then I worked in a factory dipping silverware into some kind of liquid. That was the best one. Twenty cents an hour. My friend wore an enormous bra so she would stick one or two pieces of silverware in there when she went home at night. When I got married, my boss gave me an entire set."

I said, "I wonder if I can finish paying off my student loans on 20 cents an hour. That actually sounds like a ton of fun compared to my job."
